Dr. Wassim Shaheen is an interventional cardiologist who joined Heartland Cardiology in July 2006. He received his medical degree from the American University of Beirut. His internal medicine residency was at the University of Kansas, where Dr. Shaheen was honored as Chief Resident. After completing his cardiology fellowship at the University of Iowa (where he was Chief Fellow), he returned to Wichita in 2005. Dr. Shaheen is board-certified in cardiology and interventional cardiology.

In addition to maintaining a busy practice, Dr. Shaheen has co-authored several journal articles. He was awarded a research grant for a two-year focused study on atherosclerosis and was selected in Wichita Business Journal’s “Best Doctors in Cardiovascular Disease” in 2017.  Dr. Shaheen was also elected by his peers for inclusion in Best Doctors in America® in 2017 to 2018.  Dr. Shaheen has a passion for teaching and training future health professionals.
