WHD is an annual initiative of the World Hypertension League, an affiliated section of the International Society of Hypertension. This public awareness initiative encourages citizens all around the world to help prevent and control high blood pressure.

WHD was first inaugurated in May 2005. Each year since, May 17 has been dedicated to WHD.

The theme of WHD 2016 is “know your numbers” with the goal of increasing high blood pressure awareness in all populations around the world. The WHD challenge this year is to screen over one million adults.

Screenings will take place in the cardiac rehab gym, located on the hospital campus at 600 Medical Center Drive.
